Why Should You Treat Frown Lines & Forehead Lines Together?
Two very popular areas to have treated are the forehead and the frown lines (in between the eyebrows). Some of us are naturally more expressive – raising our eyebrows, squinting, frowning and smiling repeatedly throughout the day. Combined with the natural ageing process this means these expressive lines begin to appear at rest as well.
Botox® injections are a quick and easy way to improve the appearance of these fine lines and wrinkles. They work by both relaxing these muscles and preventing us from making these repeated expressions. This helps to improve skin appearance, making skin appear radiant and smooth for a more youthful look.
The treatment itself is carried out with minimal discomfort, with a series of small injections placing the product at the skin surface where it can then act on the desired area. You will then start to see results after around 5 days with the final result at 2 weeks.
A common question I get asked is do I need to have both of these areas treated together? It may be that you’re only wanting to smooth the lines on your forehead and aren’t particularly concerned with your frown lines or vice versa.
Treating the frown lines individually is fine, however the forehead usually needs to be treated in combination with the frown lines for optimal results.
The glabella complex (frown muscles) causes depression of the brows. Placing Botox® here will relax and lift the brows. The forehead muscle known as the frontalis acts to elevate the brows. If Botox® is placed here solely, it will lead to a lowering of the eyebrows. Therefore, treating the forehead alone can cause flattening or heaviness of the brow.
In order to achieve the best results whilst treating forehead lines, I advise placing a few drops of Botox®in the frown area in order to counteract any heaviness of the brows. This will help to obtain a beautiful natural result which should last 3-6 months. I regularly have these areas treated myself and love the improvement it makes to my complexion, and I no longer have makeup collecting in the creases!
