Why Should You Get Botox® If You’re Between 21-30 Years Old?

Ever heard the phrase ‘Prevention is Key’?

Botulinum toxin injections (Botox®) prevent the muscles (particularly on the forehead, between the brows and around the outside of your eye) from overworking the skin and creating wrinkles.

Think about it like a piece of paper- fold the A4 sheet in half once, now open it and flatten it out, the crease almost disappears. Now think about folding and opening that sheet of paper multiple times, over time the crease in the middle of the page simply won’t budge. Now put this in context of let’s say your forehead, if that muscle underneath the skin is overactive in expressions it is constantly moving and creasing the skin overlying which, along with other factors, leads to lines/wrinkles in this area visible on the skin. Once the muscle relaxes the lines usually go away but over time they can begin to stick around even at rest.

Most patients aged between 21-30 don’t need Botox®, in fact, no one ‘needs’ Botox® it’s your personal choice. There may be things that irritate you about your face, you don’t like the lines that appear in photos, you think you’re looking a little grumpier, more tired or sadder than you actually feel, or you find over the course of the day your make up sinks into these lines and makes them more obvious.

Our advice would be to treat these lines once they start to stick around. For some this can be in their mid-twenties and for others it can be much later, everyone is an individual, often these lines can be hereditary, and they’ll annoy individuals completely differently. Botox® injections aim to reduce the amount the muscle underneath the skin can move, therefore reducing the appearance of these lines. However, that ‘frozen look’ is long gone. With carefully placed Botox® injections customised to your facial muscular activity, facial shape and your wishes, trained medical professionals can reduce those pesky lines but keep your face moving so no one will know your secret, they’ll most likely comment on how good your skin is looking!

Regardless of your age, it’s important that you see a medical professional for an in-depth face to face consultation. They can talk to you about what is happening and why, and don’t be put off if we turn you away, the treatment you want just might not be appropriate and we pride ourselves on being honest, transparent and ethical.
