5 On 5 With Dr Emma Still
Why did you choose dentistry?
I’m a dentist who qualified from King’s College London in 2016. I chose dentistry as a career because of the amazing opportunities it has to offer. The industry is rapidly changing, and with the utilisation of digital dentistry and the continuing advancements in cosmetic dentistry, we are able to offer patients so much more. Services we provide can help improve people’s confidence and self-esteem which is something I find both fulfilling and exciting.
Why did you get into facial aesthetics?
We all worry about the visible signs of ageing as we get older. Facial aesthetics is an amazing field, which allows us to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and relax the muscles which create these lines. Having the ability to provide treatments which can rejuvenate and refresh your skin with a natural appearance is something that really interests me. It’s also an amazing tool to be able to combine aspects with cosmetic dentistry – my favourite is a gummy smile treatment!
How do you think Botox® helps people?
In terms of its aesthetic use, Botox® relaxes the target muscles which in turn smoothes the wrinkles which are created with facial expression – dynamic wrinkles. This helps to give the skin a more youthful appearance and can give patients that extra boost in their self-esteem. After all, looking good makes us feel good too!
What would you say to someone getting Botox® for the first time?
First and foremost, do your research! Administering Botox® is a skilled procedure and when done correctly can give beautiful, natural-looking results – so it is important to go to someone who is suitably qualified. I’m proud to be part of the Unndoo team as all of the practitioners are either doctors or dentists, with the appropriate medical indemnity so you know you’re in safe hands.
What is your favourite TV show at the moment?
After multiple recommendations from friends, I’ve just started the Crown on Netflix. With four seasons already out I’ve got a lot to catch up on, but I’m definitely hooked!
